Faith begins where the will of God is known. Settle it [taps the Bible]. Settle it forever. If you're a police officer, if you're a soldier, particularly those of you that will be in command, you're a minister of God; you're not only a minister of God, you not only do not wear the sword in vain, you take the role in command, you take the same role that I take or the pastor of a church takes, or anyone else that God has called into authority. You settle that. Take communion over it. Get in your quiet place, in your quiet time and serve communion to yourself over the Word of God. You say 'Do I have a right to do that!?' Yeah, oh yeah. You do if you're a believer. And after all, you are a minister of God. Take communion and say 'That's what I am, I'm not going to become that after I get out of school, I'm not going to become that after I'm commissioned, I'm not going to become that sometime later down the road; that's what I am now, by faith, I receive it!' In the Name of Jesus. Amen. And according to the Word of the Living God, as long as my service is inside those guidelines then I am a minister of God and I do not wear the sword in vain and as long as I keep the commandment of Jesus, then I am guiltless.

Now let's look at the commandment. There are some things here that have to be settled. 1 John 3. 'Oh Brother Copeland, this is where it gets tough'. No it doesn't, you just have to know what it means. You know, God's Word is so simple we've had to have some really high priced help to misunderstand it! And we've had some over the years too, haven't we! I mean, they've told us for years what God didn't mean, what He can't do anymore, and I found out He said what He meant and He just settled it forever, and the quicker you get over what He said, the better off you're going to be, amen.

And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, that we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. (1 John 3:22-23)

Now, 'as He gave commandment'. How did Jesus give commandment? Jesus said 'love the Lord thy God with all your heart, all your mind, all your soul and strength and your neighbor as yourself, these two, and on these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets'. All spiritual law, consequently, every physical law is subject to this. All spiritual law hangs on 'love the Lord thy God with all your heart, all your mind, all your soul, all your strength and your neighbor as yourself. 'What! I'm supposed to go to war with that? How can I do that!?' I'm so glad you brought that up. Amen, because somebody's going to bring it up, aren't they! 'You mean I can walk in that and go to war?' You'd better walk in that when you go to war!

Jesus gave every warrior, every police officer, every person who does not wear the sword in vain, but wears the sword in behalf of the Lord God Almighty and Jesus is the Commander in Chief of the Body of Christ, and has been given all authority both in Heaven and in Earth. He gave us the key to it; He said love your enemy. Now listen, the back side to that is don't every wear the sword in hate. You can't do that, you can't handle that. No, no, no, you can't do that. 'Well, I mean how can I love somebody and shoot him?' Well, that's a pretty good question.
